Educational Setup in District Nainital

There is a decent Govt. educational setup in the district beside having prestigious public schools . As per records of 2007 there are 1260 Jr. Basic Schools , 356 Sr. Basic School , 198 Secondary Schools , 4 degree colleges and the Kumaun University . 90 % of Jr. Basic Schools are located in the rural area while 85% and 65% respectively of Sr. Basic & Secondary schools are located in urban area . For technical education Nainital Polytechnic provides 3 yr diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electronics , Electrical & 2 yr. diploma courses in Pharmacy , Computer Applications ,short hand – secretarial work . M.I.T.I. at Haldwani and ITI at Nainital , Haldwani, Bhowali , Dhari ,Okhalkanda are providing technical courses to students . ESTC Kania located near Ramnagar is an institute in the field of Computer & Electronics. Number of private institutions affilated to Kumaun University are also providing MCA, BEd & MBA courses. Birla Institute at Bhimtal an institute of repute is running courses for MCA & MBA under Kumaun University. DIET Bhimtal conducts BTC courses .
